Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Yes, sort of a personal choice, we had a space here in Manchester of about 7 or 8 weeks. Locally the cafes are quite small and cramped. Given my OH works for the NHS, we thought it best, for other people's health (the same reason as wearing a mask is for other people, not you), that we stayed outside at all times, as ALL summer she was still seeing covid patients, so choice and no choice really.

should we lockdown harder and longer and get to a level of being able to realistically test and trace every single case

Incidentally the average age of people in ICU is currently 60 and falling.

If the lockdown is continue dlong enough this time, as Porf Whitty has hinted, they'll be lockdowns next winter. Remember, the longer there are high infections rates, the more endemic the infection is in the population, the more likely it will mutate and the more likely the virus will escape the current vaccines and the more likely we will be back here.

Press all saying lockdown has to last longer this time. Putting getting back to schools at risk now. Stable door still open for new variations and the SA one because travel without quarantine still not blocked, and won't be blocked entirely when it 'starts' next week.

That's right DocM or at least should be. I stil don;t see the government talking seriuosly enough about what the situation will be come late next Autumn and what they are going to do, the vaccines are NOT a silver bullet, we can quite clearly see that now with the mutations.

They don't put the older people in ICU, so as the virus spreads among younger people, the average age will drop.

Who are all these thousands of people flying into the country ? They can't be holidaymakers surely ?

So does that mean they must be people "on business" or UK nationals returning home.

They really are screwing us all by not having clamped down on this months ago with enforced quarantine.

I had a strange dilemma this morning, face coverings are compulsory in my children's school grounds at the moment, I normally remove it as quickly as possible as I leave but it was so cold that I found myself enjoying wearing it, it's a merino buff more than a mask. I took it off though before anyone thought I was joining in, oh the irony that I can't wear a face covering when I want to :-)
