Or, not to bang on about it, a copper coil. Don't need to have had babies, no hormones, lasts 5 years.
Sterilisation is a much bigger deal for women than vasectomy is for men, and is less effective.
Other hormonal options suit lots of people and all bar depo can be stopped or removed if you have problems - once a depo injection's in there's no way of taking it out.
I take it your smears are up to date?

Steady Edina
My smears are up to date the reason I am asking these questions is because I've recently been diagnosed with a rare form of ovarian cancer. I've been taken off the pill I may have to have a hysterectomy at some point depending how chemo goes so not sure what to do in the mean time.

Edina, sorry to hear that it must be a huge worry on your mind. Given that's the case it would be well worth speaking to your GP and/or the oncologist or gynaecologist who's been treating you - if you have a specialist nurse you can contact they might be able to advise on who's best to speak to. I'll keep everything crossed for you; all best wishes x

HELP
I really need some advice!!
I have the copper coil fitted 5 weeks ago and I am still bleeding, sometimes it is light but for the last 2 weeks it has been heavy. I was on the pill before I had it fitted and bled most of the time on that, although it was lighter and more like spotting. I had a check up with the doc about 12 days ago and she said everything looked fine and dandy and that I was probably having a period. I am so fed up with having a damn period, I feel like I have been on for most of the year!
My mum and maternal grandmother both went through the menopause in their early 40's, I wonder whether I should insist on a blood test to see if I am starting to go through the change or not. It's getting me down

copper coils can cause heavier periods it sounds like you had bleeding post insertion and are now having a period you need swabs to exclude infection it may well settle down after this blood tests are totally unreliable for menopause as hormone levels vary so much day to day
have a chat to the family planning clinic

Remind me never to try and delay my 'period' by running two packets of pills together. I managed to delay my period by 7 days but have been bleeding for almost 2 weeks. I'm now in the pill free week and am hoping the bleeding stops once I start the next packet of pills next week.

I did a trip to the pharmacy after a spontaneous "working from home" moment last week how can one little progesterone tablet foul things up quite so riyally?

the pill, in all its forms, morning after or the every day kind, is HORRIBLE. men would be a lot more in favour of vasectomy if the alternative was taking something that messed them up as much as the pills messes women up.
