Oh yes. I love mine. No periods at all!!!

My cycle was 12 days on, 7 days off. It was bloody miserable and I cannot for the life of me think why I put up with it for so long.

Poots :-) ...my mum has had a tia, and my uncle and nan have had both :-( I saw the consultant (who also fitted it) and he was happy for me to have it. I actually had mine in 7 years now and only just starting to 'spot' - really need to get it changed, though not using it for contraception as hubby has been done.

Spinkle :-) ...it's a godsend isn't it :-) x 10

B-Lass, i had the same problem for years, on more than I was off. Really heavy & last for 2-3 weeks, couple of days break, then start again. Back on Depo, but get spotting, & doc not happy about me staying on it. Also inbetween last break off it, got told I had rosacea, which I thought was just really bad spotty, itchy skin & would go away once back on Depo & hormones settled, but it hasn't. It won't go away.

Bit of a dilemma what to choose.

I was on Cerezette, but suffered from spotting throughout the month, felt like I was always "on"

Tried the Depo injection, even worse, have been on for 3 months, did get some pills to stop the bleeding but as soon as I stopped them I came on again.

Now thinking about the coil but not sure whether to go for the non hormonal one , that may cause heavy painful periods but regular ones or the Mirena one that could cause spotting but may stop my perios altogether. I am leaning towards the non hormanal one. I can't go on the combined pill as my blood pressure was too high yesterday when the doctor took it (normally it is ok), and because of my age (I am 44)

any advice ladies greatly welcomed. Thank you

With the Mirena I do get a 'cycle' in so much that I do get the heavy boobs a week before, and sometimes a little bit of period pain...but had no bleeding at for the first 5 years or so :-) I have started to smudge a bit more now (sorry, prob TMI) though I have had it in for 7 years - my 'cycle' seems to run 28 days and am currently needing nothing more than liners :-)

Hope that helps a bit :-)

It is supposed to bit a little more uncomfortable to fit (I have no experience of coils prior to this one) but is a teeny, weeny, teeny price to pay for the total life change :-)

I'm with you Hourglass.

Yup, I still 'cycle' sorely boobies and a smudge is all I get. It took a while to settle but really, in all honesty, it has changed my life entirely.

The mirena was my last stop before an hysterectomy - I wasn't expecting it to work at all but it did. I'll still have to have one, but not for a while.

The fitting did hurt, but only for about 5 seconds. Absolutely a tiny price to pay. Quite literally too - the amount of sanitary arrangements I used to get through...

After being on the Depo, (loved it - no periods atall) I've been fitted with a Mirena coil, lots of cramps and discomfort and unpredictable bowels for the first few months. It has settled now but I do get periods and they are more regular than they used to be when I was at school and I don't get the cramps that I used to suffer terribly with before I went on the Depo. My periods now are generally a bit lighter and slightly more short lived but I do get heavy ones every now and then. So don't think that if you have this fitted you don't get them.
