I was having quite the surreal discussion with the surgeon and his lovely assistant about the relative benefits/disbenefits of private practice over the NHS, whilst the flashing blade glinted under the neon light...

Sorry to resurect this again, but about 4 months ago I had my pill changed to Cerezette. Since then, my skin has got progressivly worse and I know feel like I have the complexion of a spotty teenager. In actual fact, my skin wasn't even this bad when I *was* a teenager.

Has anyone else had this problem, and did it die down for you after a while?

I would like to go back onto the combined pill, but my doctor won't even consider it because I had a migraine recently. Surely the migraine could have been caused by anything? I've never had one before, though it did last 3 days which was a bit scarey.

I had the POP which made my skin really bad, so doc changed it to Dianette (combined) and it definitely helped.

When I became too old *sniff* for the pill I had a mirena coil, which has some sort of progesterone in (I think) and my skin and hair became spotty/greasy again. But it did settle down eventually (about 6 months) and I have many many less migraines than I did on the pill.

Maybe it'll take a while longer for it to settle?

I had *one* migraine, complete with flashing lights and slurred speech. Went on for 3 days, on and off, and in the end I got a bit scared (because I had no idea wtf was happening to me) so went to see the doctor (who, indicently, couldn't have cared less). He just told me to stop taking the pill and that was that, gave me no alternative option either. I was the last appointment on a Friday afternoon and he obviously thought he had better things to be doing. Was in and out within 2 minutes.

Obviously not using any sort of contraception wasn't an option, so I went back a few days later and saw a "proper" doctor who put me on Cerezette, "because of the migraines".

I'd been on the combined pill for about 19 odd years so if it was the pill why didn't it start giving me migraines years ago?

dont think it was the pill. migraines are mini strokes i was told. could be a lifestyle/environmental pressure . doubt the pill had anything to do with it especially if uve not had migraines before

Zactly B-Lass. Have seen 3 doctors now though (including the initial one) and they are all adament that the migraine must have been caused by the combined pill. I know it is a big trigger factor, but then so is sitting in front of a blinky computer screen 10 hours a day. And they didn't tell me to give up work, did they (mores the pity!).
