it's the blanket assumption that it suits everybody and is no big deal that annoys me. getting someone to understand what it did to me (taking it was the origin of my depression and every time it was changed it kicked off another bout. the mood swings and blind rages too. it was like constant PMT but worse) was really hard. No doctor would listen to me, they just said I must be imagining it.
and it wasn't until i mentioned that coming off the pill had stopped the frequent and severe migraines, with loss of speech and sensation, that someone actually agreed that maybe it wasn't good for me and they stopped pressuring me. but depression, with all its sequelae, apparently isn't a good enough reason not to take it.

I hadn't had any major problems with the pill until I decided to run two packets together. I just hope things return to normal once I start the next packet.
My sister turned into a nutter when she went on microgynon, she swapped to another brand and seems to be OK at the moment.

Thanks HB...I will go back to the docs to be checked out again.
One question - if blood tests are so unreliable how will I know if I am menopausal if I don't get all the symptoms?

I've just switched to Loestrin (sp?) as I was on microgynon but fessed up to visual migraines so the doc wanted me on a lower oestrogen pill (I'm 43) and progestogen-only doesn't suit me.
Seems OK except that my periods have disppeared completely -- quite disconcerting -- and no, I'm not up the duff! The PIL mentioned cessation of periods as a known side effect. I need to see the doc soon to get some more but can anyone tell me whether it's common?
