I'd log it Chris, after all you cycled it.

Chris, it won't count for owernship if it is old anyway. You can also manually "give back" zones. I'm not sure if that just means you lose ownership or if it wipes all your points from the zones.
I am not convinced that walking to work is necessary less in the spirit than cycling. I don't log either because there is no competition for my zones but if I cycle with my kids to school, it's definitely not more effort than walking briskly by myself. I also think that a long walk through a city is a good workout. Don't they say that anything that gets your heart-rate up counts? I logged Venice walking but not Rome (after a similar discussion on here, I decided against) but I think I probably should have. I've lost most of Venice now anyway.

If anyone is in any doubt as to whether what they're thinking about logging is 'Training' or not - then it probably isn't. The spirit of the game is surely about training, rather than simply having 'been somewhere'.
Otherwise we can all go back and log our childhood holidays, stag dos, business trips to boost our exploration numbers

I don't see much difference between hiking on the hills and hiking through a city (especially a hilly one like Genova where I live right now!) It's still sight-seeing and exercise in one. Same for a lot of cycling. You don't have to be clad in lycra for it to count and it can have dual-function (e.g. commuting). The "work-out" element does not have to be the principal objective.

That's a challenging point of view. I doubt if anything I've ever done would count as "training" except for the few months I was building up my endurance to try a marathon.
As for walking to town, when I give myself 10 minutes to walk to the station and buy a ticket, that is massive effort, but I would not dream of calling it training.

For 'training' I would have to be training for 'something' and I'm not doing that at all.

If there's a category for it in the training log ...

I genuinely only want to bag new zones, owning them isn't a priority to me... i just wanna cover my map!!
If it so happens to be little populated by other Fetchies, then all the better!
I own 3 zones near Dusseldorf, now known as Maz's Wittlaer Rhine, beside my friends house in suburban Dusseldorf, unlikely another Fetchie would be there, but it'll always be covered in my map even if i don't own it.

There are a number of zones in and around my town which are hotly contested amongst a few. Ownership flips from month to month. Zone names have been known to get changed to twist the knife into the vanquished and mark the territory.
In these places the protagonists all play by the same rules - a while ago words were said when it was noticed someone was logging the warm up and the run as two separate events thereby gaining a perceived unfair advantage.
I think I am reading that its horses for courses (or training for zones). I do like to reach out my exploration hits on vacation and there is a piece of Chicago and Kefalonia I hope with always be mine. However, closer to the home square its a lot more serious and a whole different zone game.

One of the changes a while back meant that you can only score points once per sport in a zone. So you'd have to warm up on a bike before doing your run, in order to take advantage of that
