At the moment i log almost all my walking as training, but not if it involves a new zone. That will probably change in the next week .

I think that putting your walking as cross training is fine if the purpose of the walk is to train. I do a 30 min walk to work every day and wouldn't record that as training. Similarly a weekend walk around a town centre is healthy but not Xtrainimg in my mind. If I did then I would probably hit most cafe Nero and Starbucks in the country (new game?)

There are plenty of people who log their walking commutes as training - I think that's fair, and if you're are covering miles whilst on holiday exploring a new area on foot why shouldn't you log that? You are still on your feet & covering the ground and it gets fewer points.

I log *everything* so long as it's me on foot (or - and this gets people more riled - on my bike)

e.g. my recent German trip - I cycled 68 miles into Ulm and later went out for an exploratory walk around the city. Both got logged.

I might set up a second account to log my cycling in.

I might also record all my lifetime cycling, and that would unjustly put me at the top of the annual table, I expect.

I think it's ok to log a walk, provided you plot it and log it as a walk. a friend of mine, and local conquersize nemesis walks to and from work, obviously wears her garmin, logs it so it defaults to a run = 2 points, changes it retrospectively to a walk but 2 points still stand.
Means my chances of reclaiming the zone are zero as she's scoring double points every day. I made myself let it go, but since we are on the subject, having a wee rant!
it's nice to log walks in areas you might never get to again, in terms of geography covered but not to won them.

I log walks that you wouldn't be embarrassed when they appear on Strava! It's a pain all Garmin walks appear as a run on Fetch (even when the watch is in walk mode). I've asked Fetch to respect the FIT file category, but he isn't yet.

I log walking too. I put my Garmin in cycle mode so that it comes into Fetch as bike which only scores 1 point, the same as cross-training. I then retrospectively change my log.
