I'd add

Appetite for destruction - GnR

Blue train - Coltrane

City to city - Rafferty

Stoosh - Skunk Anasie

Rattus Norvegicus - Stranglers

Parallel lines - blondie

All worth a re listen

Some great ones mentioned already, 2nd vote for Tres Hombre.

Talking Heads - Stop Making Sense, a live album rather than a studio one, but imo a classic in every way

Thanks for starting the thread McG.

As it was me who mentioned Astral Weeks elsewhere that is my recommendation for this month. I've heard a lot about how cantankerous he is and how his live experience is not the best too. Maybe why I haven't seen him and there have been many opportunities. Still Astral Weeks is a record that however many times I go back still fills me with wonder. I'd list Moondance as a classic too in fairness.

There have been some great recommendations, majority of which I've heard at least once. I'm going to start with Highway 91 Revisited though. Have listened to a little Dylan but he has one of those catalogues that is difficult to know where too start and don't think I've heard this one.

I'm away for Easter but will re-listen to Astral Weeks when I get home. For anyone who is familiar with say Astral Weeks and / or Moondance but wants to delve deeper then I recommend Veedon Fleece. Van's singing is astonishing and the songs are great

My contributions would be

Elvis Costello - Armed Forces
Joni Mitchell - Don Juan’s Reckless Daughter (and all the “classic” ones of course!)
AC/DC - Back in Black
Isley Brothers - 3+3

Can't remember the last time I actually listened to an album (as in: start-to-finish, as it was presented by the band at that time)

A slightly different genre to many on this thread so far, but with them having sorted the legal issues around the samples, so now allowing it to be streamed, I'd suggest '3 feet high and rising' by De La Soul'.

I'd probably also suggest 'It takes a nation of millions... (Public Enemy)' as one of few albums (of any genre) to truly hit me on first listen.

A spin-off from the 50 New Albums in 2023.

Some Fetchies have been mentioning or revisiting some of the classics, so not necessarily a new album to them and definitely not a *new* new album. As such, I thought we could have a new thread to discuss such classics.

Already mentioned:
Van Morrison Astral weeks
The Beach Boys Pet Sounds

I've been wondering, depending on whether there's any demand for it, that participants might each suggest a classic album (per month?) so that t...
