A spin-off from the 50 New Albums in 2023.
Some Fetchies have been mentioning or revisiting some of the classics, so not necessarily a new album to them and definitely not a *new* new album. As such, I thought we could have a new thread to discuss such classics.
Already mentioned: Van Morrison Astral weeks The Beach Boys Pet Sounds
I've been wondering, depending on whether there's any demand for it, that participants might each suggest a classic album (per month?) so that there would at any one time be a few up for listening/discussion.
What do you think?

Two great suggestions for starters
I've been listening to Marvin Gaye's What's going on again recently and it's fantastic sounding still and still politically relevant
I love Van Morrison and the Beach Boys and will them a spin soon

I think the 2 classics that I would barely have dreamed listening to when younger are, but are among my favourites now:
ZZ Top - Tres Hombres Paul Simon - Graceland
When I was younger, I flitted between new stuff and probably some of their inspirations, like The Clash, Small Faces, Bowie, the Sex Pistols.

Deeply uncool but I was enjoying Crime of the Century by Supertramp today. Great album.

As an aside, I went to a Van Morrison gig once. He ignored the audience throughout, not even a "good evening". The music was okay and the backing band was brilliant but I resolved never to spend any more money on the miserable sod again.

For me Primal Scream - Screamadelica, Pulp - Different Class, Massive Attack - Blue Lines, Alabama 3 - Exile on Coldharbour Lane.
Going back a bit (before my time) but I listen to a lot of Pink Floyd and Wish You Were Here is my favourite album.
Agree that What’s Going On is fantastic

I like the idea of one a month.

I don't like Pet Sounds. But I should probably give it another go as I haven't listened to it in possibly 20 years or more.
I would like to submit Nick Drake's Bryter Layter for consideration.
