Never read any James Herbert, but went on a Stephen King buying spree after picking up Gerald's Game for 50p at a charity sale. Have moved on to buying from a bookshop, with actual royalties being handed over. Same with Joe King - two from charity shops, bookshop-bought NO54R2 (think that's correct) in paperback and would have bought the latest already if the hardback wasn't so HEAVY!

I am reading The Shining as we speak
the style/standard of writing is exactly as I expected
I am only 1/3rd way through but I already know I'm going to give it 7/10
and then not bother with any more SK

I liked IT but have always regarded The Stand as King's best.
However, I really enjoyed the work he produced as Richard Bachman.
