Serotonin is quite unpleasantly, deliberately in your face transgressive (and misogynistic) early on - so much so, I've not completed it yet - and as someone who reads a lot of Houllebecq too, so probably a good swerve there.

I have read 2 or 3 of Fort but not The Village News. I am constantly looking in here and constantly running away, Tom Fort is the nearest thing anyone one has mentioned that I might read in at least a year.

Currently reading Twirlymen, a cricket book that like all good sports books is NOT about sport ( like Fever Pitch) and Free and Equal, Daniel Chandler.

Little Nemo
Looks like it's available in my local library so I'll pick it up as soon as I've finished the Richard Osman I'm currently reading.

I like the sound of Bourneville. Growing up in the East Midlands, I was taken to visit it several times. The first visit, I was bemused to see one of the workers sitting in front of a conveyor belt, holding a 3-pronged fork with which she was making the 3 stripes on each and every one of the Turkish Delight chocolates as they glided past her. All day and every day. Though I think the workers did get swapped between tasks fairly frequently. They also had a 5-minute break in every hour.
