I forgot to say that, after abandoning Middlesex, I switched to Brideshead Revisited, by Evelyn Waugh, for my Audible read. I've read other Waugh's in the past, but I've only seen the 80's TV adaptation of Brideshead starring Anthony Andrews and Jeremy Irons, of which I have fond memories. Fittingly, Irons narrates the audiobook.

This style, era and subject is very much in my sweet spot. My physical book at the moment is The Good Soldier, by Ford Madox Ford. This is my third attempt at it.

just looking at my reading stats for the last 9.5 years, I've DNF'd 55 books out of 1164, so roughly 1 in 21
don't know if other people think that is high or low...?
