I looked at getting the book on Amazon and it’s delivery date stated is a couple of weeks away even for prime members. I have started doing a couple of YouTube videos, one for lower body and one for upper body, simple to follow and ideal for a beginner and someone a bit older and no equipment needed apart from a chair and light weights.

That's a bit of a delay, Uc; mine came in 2 days, but that was a week before Christmas.

I’m reading through the book and I’ve got as far as the chapter which says that cardio is a waste of time. Hmmmm.

depends on the goals I guess Nellers there are several people who say 8 mins a week using HITT is optimal but you won't do many road (etc) races that way

Yes, I get that totally, EP. I think if you're looking for the maximum health benefits with the least time invested then you can get the heart health benefits from short stuff, and some of that can be strength stuff.
It just bugs me when people dismiss "cardio" as a waste of time. If you want to be "functionally fit", as he says he is promoting, you need to have strength and power and flexibility and stamina and you won't get that last one the same way from 8 minutes of HIIT.
I wouldn't say it to his face though. Have you seen him!

Us skinny blokes have to play to our strengths!
(although after the last week or 2 I don't think I can claim to be a skinny bloke any more either!)

Ha ha. I took it to mean that cardio is a waste of time if you are doing it for losing weight but I have probably mis-read as I was skimming through.
I have done today's session: -backward lunges -swimmers -one legged Romanian dead lifts (I was a bit wobbly but it was manageable) -squats (a good tip was to do them 6" away from a wall to stop leaning too far forward)

Bought the kindle book, skimmed through fairly quickly. Will make a start tomorrow on the "Basic Program for beginners" with the ladder of push/pull exercises.
