Maybe the main one is on less-sensitive than it was, then? Just looks straighter /jaggedy lines from the coach road on

From James' tracker page
"Due to the yellow warning for Tuesday, James plans to stop at Mungrisedale until the weather has passed."

The snow and wind has just reached Threlkeld about 5 mins ago! Another very good decision by James.

Looking at the tracker it looks to me like James might well be holed up in Mungrisdale Village Hall and with the pub just across the beck there that is certainly a smart place to be. It should help maximise the recovery he can get out of the enforced stop.

That’s where he was when I looked this morning. Seems a hugely sensible decision. I’m getting battered at near sea level on the other side of the country just walking for lunch so couldn’t imagine how fierce the conditions would be out on the fells.

One of his support from last night lives in Mungrisdale so he may be in his house.

Ah! Or given the tracker position has access to the village hall, which if I remember rightly is well equipped and ideal for spreading kit out and getting sorted.

Sounds like James has got his contingency plans well sorted :-)

Did you see his retreat route? I love every inch of the Lakeland fells, but it's hard to love The Tongue, it's horrible terrain. Birkett has a lot to answer for :-)

I thought he went down the path rather than along the top and down the nose?
It’s a pretty decent path, to walk *up* anyway
