Agreed NE :). I'd actually say Wasdale is one of the more touristy these days, especially Fri-Mon, with loads of dickheads in the flip-flops and high-heels wanting to get to the top of the Pike in the most direct route. You only have to look at some of the driving and parking on the road to Wasdale Head and the amount of litter and other waste around the man paths.

:-o Flipflops or high heels? That's just incredibly dumb, as is leaving behind litter.

We passed a chap on catbells last week that had resorted to walking barefoot and carrying his flip flops...

We ran down into Eskdale from Three Tarns on Saturday and that's a beautifully quiet trail run alomost all the way to Boot. I love Wasdale, but cf Eskdale and Ennerdale it gets pretty busy.

I love Wasdale but the National PPP’ers spoil it :(

RH, it'll be grand. Wasdale is lovely, but occasionally (like anywhere) can get its share of eijits.

Simon, I love that trail, though I've mostly used it in ascent to join up to the BG route at bowfell

The area from Cockley Beck up to the Scafell massif is fantastic. The Horseshoe starting up Little Stand round to Slight Side is not only a grand day out, but also a great BG training / familiarisation run :)

Eskdale & Duddon are at the top of my list currently.

*fires up OS maps to check out that horseshoe route*

Little Stand - Long Tops - Shelter Crags - Bowfell - Esk - Broad Crag - Scafells - Slight Side ?

And then where to get back? Across to Harter and back along the other side?
