I wash my road bike about once a month, my hybrid once a year, my MTB never.

I commute 11 mile to work onthe roads of Sheffield but set off at 05:00 am so I'm pretty much on my own. Coming home is a different story though :S

Hi! I've got a cheap hybrid and I've just started cycling to work. Is that enough to allow me to join this thread? Please say yes, because I haven't got a clue on the whole bike thing. :)

Oh very much yes. For the most part my commute is on an aged GT Vaterra(sp?) hybrid. Welcome to the thread.

Yay! Cheers Greg & Hann.

Running seems so much more straightforward than cycling - it's all a bit confusing. I'm prolly going to ask lots of very daft questions, so apologies in advance.

Safe thread this, AFAIK. Even safer for seemingly daft bike questions is "TriSport Fetch: the smell of 220". Friendliest 'serious' thread in Fetchland.

Unless you mention the S word ;-)

I got a new saddle for my Brompton this morning. It's women's specific and will be a lot more comfortable than my current one.

My new extended commute is going OK, although I'm finding it pretty scary. I had my first car knock me off last week (he overtook me, immediately turned left and braked). I was absolutely fine, but I'm pleased to say I dented is car and knocked his wingmirror off(!). He took full responsibility though and was very very sorry. The old part of my commute is fine (through the London parks) but the new part down the embankment and along the A1203 (Tower Hill to Limehouse Link) is very busy with traffic so I have to do a lot of weaving between cars.

I'm also finding doing 20 miles a day on the bike in addition to my running is making me VERY hungry so I am eating A LOT...
