It will, its made of carbon/composite, it wont rust, it has already lasted 2 years without cleaning much :-)

Yes, breaks and gears are always checked before each ride :-)

Must say though it's worth cleaning to check for damage to the frame or forks. Carbon/aluminum don't bend like steel has a tendency to fail catastrophically.

That is true Idio... but the bike has so far not sustained anything dramatic, like a major pothole or crash... It has been cleaned about once ayear so far, apart from the moving bits, which I keep well maintained and oiled... that reminds me, need to do the drive train and put dry lube on in stead of wet lube... it is lovely weather now and won't want sand and dust sticking to it...

Hi folks, just found this thread.

H you should clean the bike and check it over regularly. gear will last longer and also you can find out the condition it's in. saying that mines a bit of a mess, few dead worms etc.

tend it like a delicate flower. :-)

the problem with carbon, is that when it breaks, it fails big time -crack!!!, this maybe around a sratch or scrap, although the carbon weave nowadays is far more superior to the olden days (1980's).

I'm happy with my aluminium bike with carbon forks. I really do need to clean it more though.

I'm currently enjoying getting more miles in on the bike now I've changed jobs, although the cycle from Paddington to Canary Wharf is proving to be a little scary :-O

I'm quite lucky that when I ride to work, can use a riverside path for most of it. Nice views and very relaxing. Doesn't excuse the BMW driver chopping me upon a bend though.
