Thanks Gooner but It’s a long time of feet for me this morning but maybe a wee jaunt this evening. I will still need to get my confidence up a good bit but if at least the bike is in good condition it will help. |

Thanks fetchies, about time i step up the mileage with biking, been meaning to do it for ages!!! Let’s hope it continues. My new car is spacious enough to transport two bikes to where we need to cycle without traffic so hopefully will be biking regularly |

Motivation is part of it but actually training your mind is key. Completely off topic, one of the juniors at the rugby club started c25k believing he couldnt run for 5k. He finished it last week. As his coach, I suggested that while he was on a roll he might as well go for c210k. Last night his dad contacted me to say he had done a 10k. 9 weeks ago this was a boy who said he couldn't run, last night he did 10k. His dad and the boy are so proud of what they both accomplished, dad did c25k too. Motivation is important but so is belief. To increase stamina go out on your normal ride and in the second half of the ride for 3 minutes go as hard as you can, pedal slowly for 3 minutes and then another 2 times. Do it once or twice a week, you will feel your stamina increase. You can do the same on a local hill that takes 3-5 minutes to climb. Proviso only do it if it is safe to do and that you are fit and well enough to do hard efforts. They are not for everyone and only you and your gp will know if you can do hard efforts. A google search will show you many ways to increase stamina without neccessarily increasing time or distance on the bike. Hope it helps but the most important thing is enjoy being out on your bike. Stay safe and have fun |

can someone help me out here please - what am i missing? this is a bbc story about a new roundabout in Cambridge just about to open. bbc.co.uk The opening paragraph states that "The UK's first Dutch-style roundabout has had to close for three nights after it was damaged by a hit-and-run driver." Further down it is explained that, "The evening before it officially opened, while it was operating on temporary traffic lights, a car driver "collided with a Belisha beacon column, causing it to lean slightly - the driver failed to stop at the scene", a council spokesman said" so a slightly leaning Belisha beacon caused the roundabout to be closed for three nights? What?!??!?!!?!?!? |

Anyone an expert on gravel bikes? I am considering getting one and there's a lot to choose from .... what would your key buying points be? Currently looking at a rather delectable item on the Ribble website.
