That's very neat Smibl. I think just one bike in a space feels like it steals the space but 3 or more becomes an efficient use.

Mudmeander, I think you lost the space between IMG and the number somehow. or Maybe it was the full stop after the bracket?

Hopefully this will post (your image, with space on a new line, so no punctuation or special characters). :)

Nah, lower BBs and better wheels these days - though I did like some of those 90's rigid MTBs - first MTB I got came with horrible heavy shocks and got the shop to swap them out for rigid forks.

Gravel bike = 'traditional' tourer (72* angles) maybe?

I must confess I have a 5 year old cyclocross bike which was used as a commuter/ explorer bike. I struggle to understand the difference between it and a "gravel" bike. I am assuming it is thinly veiled attempt at selling you an almost identical bike that panders to your ego to have a much more adventurous sounding outgoing bike. Wouldn't a hardtail 29er with lockouts on the front forks be far more flexible for adventure although heavier than a gravel bike?

Did an event on the South Downs Way a couple of years back and was riding a crosser whilst another chap was on a 29er. They passed me downhill and I passed them uphill, not much in it either way on the flat - crosser maybe had a slight advantage when it wasn't rough going.
Suspect a gravel bike would have been a tad faster as the relatively high BB on the crosser makes for twitchy descending when it gets steep.

But yeh, gravel is lots of hype and marketing around some otherwise small differences in geometry and a coming of age in drop bar STIs i.e. hydraulic discs.

Don't gravel bikes take a fatter tyre than crossers?

Gravel bikes don't have a wikipedia page. Therefore they may not really exist ;-)
