WOW! Bean, brilliant post!
I have a man's bike and a man's saddle, purely because I went to a good bikeshop and this was the bike they could set up best for my body size! I am tall, 5'10'', with a short upper body and extremely long legs for my height... and I am happy with the bike too and the saddle... I have narrow hips and my seat bones are close together. I used to get a numb bum on my wome's gel saddle on my old hybrid... and this razorblade thing does me just fine

£550 sounds a good price, I am planning to spend between that and £750 , looks like there are some good bikes available in that price bracket

Yes, there are Also, do not discount the option of buying second hand... I did and spent about £500 on mine, which is really high spec and would retail at a lot more new

Can anyone tell me , when cycling, what distance would be the equivalent of a long run ?( when I go out for a long run I class any distance over 7 mile as a long run). Hope this makes sense.

Ratio of 1:4 Eeyore... so equivalent cycle to your 7 mile run would be 28 miles.

Thanks EyeSpy21 So, if I cycle to work, which is 17 mile, this would be classed in the general run / cycle category?

I'm seconding 28 miles as the answer.
Bike to work, depends. If I take my hybrid I log it as Bike - General. Road bike for road bike, MTB for MTB...
