Don't know those at all but they sound like I'd like them.

Indeed jacdaw, but my OH (born in Derbyshire) would probably claim they’re better than the Staffordshire ones 😁 I’m from Manchester so couldn’t comment ha ha, and yes, Hanneke, I’d call them pancakes. Batter is made with oatmeal, wholewheat flour, milk and water and a small amount of yeast, left to ferment overnight in the fridge.

Traditionally eaten savoury (with eggs, bacon, sausage, cheese ….) but sweet is allowed I believe (though more along the lines of banana or chocolate spread rather than sugar and lemon)

I have never understood sugar and fake lemon from a plastic lemon. I am from the Netherlands. We have our pancakes savory!

From previous page... They had oatcakes with cheese at the 41 mile checkpoint on last weeks LDWA event. They were Staffordshire ones, but still very good
(I grew up in Derbyshire...)

I have made soft oatcakes filled with cheese and pickle to put in drop bags on ultras, and made hard (Scottish style) oatcakes sandwiched with peanut butter and marmite in my pack. Combined with oat based flapjacks, I can run all day. Scottish oatcakes are even easier to make than Derbyshire / Staffs ones.
Dr Johnson might suggest I was a horse.
