The Simnel traybake is very good. I’ve given my dad some as there’s too much for OH and me. Luckily it keeps for up to a month so we can pace ourselves 😁

Continuing the seasonal focus - is anyone making hot cross buns for Friday? I'm going to make some without the fruit for my daughter; thinking to make the dough the day before and leave it in the fridge overnight for a slow prove, then it's easy to bake them for breakfast in the morning. I think I usually use Felicity Cloake's "perfect" recipe theguardian.com - but with dried yeast instead of fresh. |

I was thinking of making Easter biscuits but not sure anyone except me will eat them.

I used to love my mum's Easter biscuits! I might make some too and drop them round to MiL's.

It would have been the Good Housekeeping one from her huge 1950s edition - this looks likely goodhousekeeping.com ; she always dredged them with caster sugar.

I've got Home Cooking from, I think, the 1960s. I'll have a look in there, too. Thanks!

I'm planning on making some cream egg brownies - basically brownies with half a cream egg on top and some meringue nests (from Jane's Patisserie website) and B wants to make chocolate krispie cakes with chicks in them. That's all planned for Sunday when I will have my family over to the garden for an Easter egg hunt. Before that I need to make something gluten free for a fetchie garden meetup on Saturday and I think I might try that lemon drizzle recipe from a couple of pages back. |

If you make them gf I'll take some off your hands Linds! That and the lemon polenta if you want a more pudding type cake are favourites here Elsie. |

I’m making hot cross buns as normal. My normal sourdough loaf mix but with dried fruit, cinnamon, mixed spice and brown sugar thrown in for good measure. Girls have requested them even though they won’t be back from uni until saturday 😁
