Depending on how "strong" your cocoa powder is, you may well get away with less sugar. I followed a different recipe once that used the beans to replace the flour (making it GF), rather them using them to replace the egg and butter like this one. They were surprisingly similar in taste.

Not yet.... I have put them in the freezer but left one out for me. I figure parkrunners will eat them if nothing else.

I hope that you like them Linds but if not - warmed up with some ice cream might make them palatable? Or use them as the base for a chocolate trifle?
