I have made the black bean brownies. Not vegan as I only had milk choc chips. Did CCK recipe but cooked for as long as Anita Bean says as they looked raw, frankly

Weekend baking: cheese soufflés for dinner yesterday plus lemon drizzle cake and blueberry muffins this afternoon.

Haven’t tried the brownies yet but very pleased to remember that I copied my grandmother’s recipe for devil’s food cake so that’ll be on the menu later in the week.

No one likes them :(

Should have done them when no one was in the kitchen. I haven't tried them yet

That's a shame Linds - what do you think? Try the AB recipe - even when I revealed the black beans my MiL said they were her favourite brownies and requested them again.

I'm a bit late to the party, but I've sometimes made black bean brownies with a fair amount of success. Using: nomeatathlete.com but with the following ingredients:

1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour (can use half white)
1 tsp baking powder
1 1/4 cups raw sugar
3/4 cup cocoa powder
1 cup chopped hazelnuts, walnuts or peanuts (I don't always add those, I think they're better without, OH disagrees)
1 tin black beans or kidney beans, rinsed and filled with new water
1 tsp vanilla
1 cup of water (can replace some of the water with egg, but keep to 1 cup of liquid)

I just blend the beans in their tin with a stick/wand blender, then mix everything in a bowl. Minimises washing up!
