those crumbly fingers are very similar to an old recipe I have that has a layer of lemon curd in it and the top crumbled on- without the dried fruit

I did banana bread for the first time since lockdown a week or so ago (I'm a bit behind with trends). I used Jack Monroe's recipe with star anise from the vegan book - I'm not a big aniseed fan, but it was lovely.

Confession time: I often (probably once a month?) make custard and eat it on its own.*
There’s no wonder I’m so fat...
* Unless there’s a Jamaican Ginger Cake in the cupboard. Oh, and a banana in the fruit bowl.

AC - same here, custars is often something I will make myself just because I want/need something to eat - the shortage of vanilla during lockdown hit this habit hard!

Aga cooled down ready for overdue service tomorrow morning. Out of Victoria sponge but do have a large ‘Celebration’ cake I made last week to start. It’s the second one I’ve done and the first wasn’t really cooked through properly. It was fine but this had a further ninety minutes or so in the bottom oven
