I picked up a couple of apples in a field today so now I've got to make a Dorset apple cake tomorrow.

Made banana bread with the kids. Despite the fact that I have made the same recipe literally 100s of times, I got the flour quantity wrong. Luckily I noticed, but not before it had all been tipped in, so we hastily added more of the other ingredients and made two loaves. God knows what it will turn out like but I'm sure it will taste OK. Mum has custard powder if not.

A couple of years ago I realised that creme patissiere was really not that hard to make. We ate a LOT of French(ish) fruit tarts that summer.

I love custard.
I'm thinking the banana crumble fingers should work with a layer of mincemeat instead (and without the raisins sprinkled on top of course).

Mincemeat slices definitely work LMH 😁
And I could easily just drink custard - I love the stuff!
Another loaf in the oven here, and this morning I made some lemon and ginger curd, was gorgeous on homemade bread with soft cheese for lunch 😁
