panad
LMH the first was about 10yrs ago when my youngest wanted to invite one of her friends to her birthday party, but was really worried, as she didn’t want her friend to miss out (as she had to do when classmates took birthday treats in to share with the class/if they were having toast/biscuits for the school provided snack that day) and so I said to my daughter I’d speak to the girl’s parents, find out exactly what/wasn’t ok and make one cake for all of them, so her friend would have the same as everyone else and be able to join in fully. Her parents were so thankful for their girl being involved (rather than not invited as she was ‘a problem’), my daughter was happy at having her friend attending and joining in and it really wasn’t an issue making something suitable for all of them..

I am still often your daughter's friend panad - people bake a lot where I work but although they have embraced making vegan options there is seldom a gf one. It gets very miserable watching everyone else tuck in and enjoy themselves. We don't eat out that much for the same reason. It's getting easier but even when there are gf options they tend to be limited and as I don't eat meat or peppers even more so. A local coffee shop/cafe does a great gf range as one of the owners has coeliac children - I'm really hoping they survive this.

I would love to be able to bake sourdough. I did try to make a gf starter once but it was an utter failure. I think I'd even more like to live with or near someone that would bake it for me

Both look fab Jacdaw.
But you’re a no cream in the Vic sandwich purist.
You’ve let me down.

Don't like to have to keep it in the fridge, spoils the texture of the cake, so I add the cream as required!
It's not jam either, just raspberries, reduced with a little sugar.

Great baking. Stef’s been known to have cream, jam AND raspberries in a sponge
