So - to quote from Fetch's fine September update email: "Sometimes, trig points are missing or inaccessible – so if you cannot find one, you can now mark it as such in our database. I didn't bother doing this for hills, because I only know of one that went missing." - which hill went missing?!?!! |

There was one opposite us, on the valley side. It was man-made, from all the mining. The biggest man-made hill in Europe, or so I was told. Anyway, they took it away, I presume to stop a tragedy. I don’t know where it went.

Ahh, thanks. When we used to live in Cannock, we referred to the ever-growing peak of household waste at the local council tip as "Biffa Mountain"

The Blencathra trig point has gone missing (a couple of times). There's just a ring up there now I think to signify the rest of the trig point under the ground. grough.co.uk |
