So - to quote from Fetch's fine September update email: "Sometimes, trig points are missing or inaccessible – so if you cannot find one, you can now mark it as such in our database. I didn't bother doing this for hills, because I only know of one that went missing."

- which hill went missing?!?!!

There was one opposite us, on the valley side. It was man-made, from all the mining. The biggest man-made hill in Europe, or so I was told. Anyway, they took it away, I presume to stop a tragedy. I don’t know where it went.

Ahh, thanks.

When we used to live in Cannock, we referred to the ever-growing peak of household waste at the local council tip as "Biffa Mountain" :-)

The Blencathra trig point has gone missing (a couple of times). There's just a ring up there now I think to signify the rest of the trig point under the ground.

He's unbelievable. He's just back from six weeks scaling summits in North America and the next day he's bagging OS benchmarks in North Acton. (I have nothing against North Acton, of course!)

I thought that was a pre-requisite for being on this thread! 🤣
