Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch
or for an ad-free Fetcheveryone experience!

My mate said it wasn’t harder than the Forcan Ridge. I can’t recall that being overly difficult, although it was a while ago.

Has anyone on here done both Crib Goch and the Carn Mor Dearg Arête on Ben Nevis? I'd be interested in a comparison.

A VERY (>30 years) long time ago - my recollection is that Crib Goch is both longer and more exposed but that neither are particularly challenging for experienced walkers who enjoy a bit of easy scrambling. I'm not in a position to comment as to how the character of either may have changed as a consequence of the volume of foot traffic and weathering they'll have seen since I was last there.

Anyone want to not surprise me and to tell me how much dicier they are than the likes of Striding Edge.

I wouldn’t mind a stab at Dragons Back but I know I’d just suffer on day one.

eL Bee! and I have done both Crib Gogh and CMD. As I recall, both were fine if you don't mind a bit of exposure. No scarier than Sharp Edge, just a bit longer.

CMD is as difficult as you want to make it, it's quite possible to do it on a trod that runs under the main arete.

As there is for for CG. On a good day it's very possible to walk or even run along it. IMO it's not much more technical than Striding Edge, although the exposure is far more constant. But it's hugely exposed to the elements and that's what make the big difference On a bad day I've been over the middle section, which is polished smooth, on all fours and quaking about being blown off. And that was roped.

I'd say the pinnacles before you come up onto the summit plateau are more technically challenging than the ridge. There's a couple of interesting moves where you are pretty much hanging out over very big, sheer drops.

I watched videos of Crib Goch before I went. I decided it was never going to be the route for me.

My mate wants to go up Ben Ledi for Sun rise this week, it’s just along the road.

Might have to practice putting my crampons on 😂

Quiet in here.

Lovely walk up Gowbarrow yesterday.
Really enjoyed it even in the rain. Was hoping that it’d be picked up in my Wainwright list but it’s not showing.

Anyone any idea why this might be when other parts of the site show that I went there?
