I dont have plans for Easter currently so maybe i shall go and gather some more of these. Do still have some mandatory leave to take this month still but that relies on vaguely warm weather first ![]() |

On Significant Islands, I had a look at the Isle of Wight and it is potentially ungettable, as the hill point lies within the compound of a radio installation - possibly military - near Ventnor and the area looks mostly fenced off. Local to me however, is Loddon Island, a patch of land between branches of a tributary to the Thames near Twyford. The high point is about 1m above river level.

I've just looked at some of the comments about St Boniface Down on hill-bagging, Groundhog. People take different approaches to this dilemma. "Circled the large enclosure that contains the high point." "A couple of workmen were on site and kindly let me go to the high point. A huge stroke of luck arriving at the time they were there." "Trig and Perimeter walk around the security fence. Looked easy enough to scale in places, but didn't fancy an arrest whilst on holiday." "Like most had to be contented with walking along the perimeter fence, though satisfied that the point in the old carpark area is high enough to claim the hill on the head height rule." "Summited! Crossed no keep out signs, damaged no property, and went nowhere near anything sensitive." |

I occasionally see these type of summits. For example, the one nearest where I grew up was somewhere between Yorkshire Water property and a Golf Club, and I noticed similar posts to above like getting past entry points. However, there is one near me now though which explicitly forbids any summits saying any posts will be hidden from public view because the summit is on private land. |

It's been noted that this trig point: fetcheveryone.com/points-view.php?id=29896 is called Islips Manor Park - but said park is about a quarter of a mile from the trig. The name is correct, according to various trig point databases - so I was just wondering if this is something that is commonplace, or an oddity. Anyone? |

Are they official names? I've noticed one or two near me that appear to have names of places that are not accurate any more but must have been once upon a time. |

The park might have been a lot bigger before the A40 went through as the trig point could have been there from the mid to late 1930s
