I would interpret your response as a way of connecting with what she was saying. Going over and over things is part of the rigidity of autism. I have in the past used ‘it’s just a lack of mental flexibility’ as a phrase to break my cycle of stewing/obsessing.

If that lady has an autistic daughter then clearly either she or the father are also autistic, so chances are she tries to connect with people exactly the same way, or is at least used to dealing with people who do. And, you are special, and you do deserve to be seen, and heard, and recognised 🫂
Flatlander Mar 2024 4:03pm, 21 Mar 2024 3,147 posts	Quote Pin Flatlander It was a relief when my neighbour asked me if I was autistic (I still don't why she thought I was ) and I cautiously confirmed I was (I felt she could be trusted, some people get quite "off" with me if they think I'm not "normal"). She responded by saying she was as well! I wasn't alone anymore! That sort of illustrates jelly's experience - it was a connection, something in common. I too overshare too readily and talk about myself (see my blogs! And this comment! ) and then wonder whether I should have said what I said. I can't seem to help myself.

My colleague has pointed out that I communicate with pictures I looked at her oddly, then scrolled through my WhatsApp and shes right, the majority of my conversations are pictures, photos or memes.

I have tried a bit of yoga, I think I’d like to do a bit of weight training but only because I’d like a more toned body but I don’t make time for anything else! I have a really ‘odd’ relationship with money too! I don’t want to be paying out for classes or the gym.
