Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

I've been told over the years that weak glutes are a runner's problem, a triathlete's problem, a cyclist's problem and more recently a tennis player's problem...

I wonder about things like "It's a runners' problem."

Is it not ust the case that there are a lot of runners who get injured so that's who "they" (physios etc) see. Is it not just a thing that most people have relatively weak glutes and don't work them enough in whatever activity they do?

(And similarly cyclists, triathletes etc).

It's unlikely to be perceived as so much of a problem for, say, bobsleigh pushers, because how many will rpesent to a physio injured in a year?

Nicely put. The physio that told me it's a tennis player's problem was a tennisist who I was seeing about my tennis elbow...

I imagine bobsleigh pushers would be less likely to have weak glutes TBF in the same way sprinters are but agree with the general premise as the glutes aren't weak because of running are they?

I was struggling to think of a random rare sport to be honest.

No, glutes are weak because modern life and sitting and posture I think, and that then impacts when you get active, regardless of the sport you choose.

Tennis’s elbow caused by weak glutes because they are allowing a weaker posture and more of a body tilt towards the ball as you meet it putting the elbow into a weaker position repeatedly.*

*I’m totally making that up. I know less about tennis than I do about bobsleigh probably.
