Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

*new as new as my PT - I’ve known her for years, just never thrown money at her in return for her causing me distress before.

Do you find that you “enjoy” that ache after a good workout GregP?

I’m doing a couple of sessions of stuff with lifting or body weight most weeks but mainly I’m just trying to keep a bit of variety in my movement. Most of my training time is rowing or biking with a bit of running added in now, so push and pull movements and wider ranges of motion seem sensible additions.

Hope you’re feeling back to full health Gobi.

I do, Nell. It's odd today as it's in places I don't usually ache - because I don't usually work the associated muscles. But I'm a happy camper today.

And yes, hope you’re feeling back to full health Gobi.

My PT has a somewhat uncompromising 'cardio makes your muscles fall off' attitude for over 50s, and considers running to be a vice like smoking or slouching. She's even less tolerant of golf and all its works.

I used to race bikes with her ten years ago. We change.

Greppers - pts and attitudes are a funny thing.

If your goal was to run a fast 5k then she is probably the wrong pt. However if you want muscle tone and weight management she may be a good call assuming your diet is aligned with her coaching.

I'm not 100 % sure that the muscle argument out weighs being aerobically healthy.

I'm not sure it's even true in a balanced program. Unless you're try to become a bodybuilder or doing doing masses of cardio, it's feels like an argument without much backing (it's taking something that has some truth to it to the extreme).
