Just started indoor climbing and bouldering (at Boulders in Cardiff) and strangely find being roped in a lot scarier than bouldering! Saying that I only do the REALLY easy stuff at the moment, but try and get a little bit further every time. I think falling (on the roped stuff) would probably help and give me confidence to go for harder (for me) moves.

Just popping in to say that I now LOVE bouldering The wall here is very inclusive and the problems change regularly. Mind you I hadn't quite nailed that grey one and now it's gone. I am definitely making progress

Hello folks. Been bouldering regularly for a while now. Have made good progress just through tackling problems and persevering. I am really aware now that I probably need to think about technique more.
So do people have favourite drills they would recommend? Preferably with a youtube link to demonstrate š

I'm not sure about drills; I think some of the best ways are just to watch how other climbers do it, and especially those who look smooth and effortless. Watch how they move their weight around and what makes them stable and best able to move for the next hold. Try copying the moves and see if they work for you, and how that feels - sometimes you'll feel stable, other times you'll find your weight swings away, and sometimes you'll be able to comfortable reach holds that previously felt out of reach.
I don't know what your wall is like, but I used to enjoy just chatting to people working on the same problems and working through them together.

I have definitely learnt loads through watching and chatting. My issue is at 4'10'' I can't always replicate what someone else is doing so often have to find my own unique way.
