Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Just watched it. An incredible story and some feats of extreme acts of bravery. Worth a watch.

Went up into Honister today for my first experience climbing outdoors. Good fun but massively different to climbing walls. Glorious weather for it.

Another great afternoon at Transition. I really wish I could get there more regularly. I feel like I am starting from scratch each time. Feel like a total novice at the beginning of each session. The boy is bloomin' amazing - fearless and really goes for it - I think with more regular sessions and some coaching he could be brilliant. He tackled a wall with an overhang (I'm sure that's not the technical term) and made it look easy - I had a go and it made me wibble :)

Is it normal to completely randomly get an adrenaline rush part way up. There seems to be no logical reason for them - it's not when I've looked down or done a tricky move or anything obvious. I just get a moment of heart pumping 'holy shit' and then I calm down and am fine.

Oh good. Does that ever go away or do you just keep pushing yourself so you always have that?

It tends to diminish as you get used to the whole experience, and as you stop worrying about trying things and falling off because you know it's so safe..... until you push yourself with something new, like lead climbing which brings a whole new world of adrenaline rushing :)

I tried lead climbing last week, was not a fan of it. Still trying to learn to trust the rope and myself at the moment so found it difficult.

I was just commenting the other day that my son (age 11) has total faith in the rope and just goes for it. I had a wee slip on Sat and although the adrenaline kicked in I did trust the rope (and my partner) completely.
