Cheers V - but I fear this one is going to take me a few more attempts - but I will get there. Growth spurt - ha ha - if that happens, I'm asking for a paternity test Two sessions a week would be nice. I saw you post about the wall in Keswick - I assume that is the KeswickClimbingFall. Mini-FF and I went there last autumn during a rainy morning while we were on hols. Had a great time, and bagged another Wainwright in the afternoon |

Has anyone told Adam Ondra that's what's supposed to happen when they grow up, V'Rap, as I'm not sure he was listening Hopefully I'll get to try my new shoes out over the next few days - I was largely just using my big toe rather than any rubber on the holds last time I climbed! |

Does anyone know of any exercises that are beneficial to climbing? I've heard muscle imbalances can cause injury.. any tips? I'm so close to finishing my first 6b! Once this bloody cold is over I'm sure I can do it! |

A quick google trawl found this at the top, which looks like an OK guide for starters: info.rockrun.com |

That's impressive, Emmie The best exercise for climbing is to climb, and the most useful non-wall-based exercises mimic the actions of climbing. I recommend this: amazon.co.uk and http://www.amazon.co.uk/Conditioning-Climbers-Complete-Exercise-Falcon/dp/0762742283/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1335559402&sr=8-3. |

Finger boards can be helpful also I found leaning a ladder against a wall and climbing up on the inside of the ladder useful with arms only and also using feet as if in an overhang situation good. Though it did use to get me odd looks from the Chinese students next door

Fingerboards are great but you need somewhere to hang one and you need to be really careful with them, especially in the first few years after starting climbing, because it's all too easy to get carried away trying to dangle from a couple of fingers before your muscles and tendons are ready.

Also found push ups on the fingers helped with strength.
