Been to Boulders in Cardiff and Undercover Rock in St Werburghs, Bristol. Not particularly near either of them though. My "home" walls are Creation or Redpoint in Brum, Pinnacle in Northampton or Big Rock in Milton Keynes. Just started climbing again after about a year off, more bouldering than climbing at the mo until my friends get sorted with their belaying.

Trin - I've been wondering what the climbing centre there is like. It's only a few minutes from the office, so wondered if I could get a lunch time climb in and whether it's cost effective for an hour's climb.

Hi FF, it costs £7.50 per session, plus equipment hire - good value for a few hours but maybe a bit much just for 1 hour.

Cheers Paul - it's an option.

The UWE wall looks a little limited so have been wondering whether to try this one.
I could be solo until I can encourage some colleagues along - what is the bouldering wall like?

Mini-FF has been climbing at our local wall - Reading CC - it's excellent BTW.
Just signed her up for NICAS after Xmas so hoping to get some climbing in myself during her lessons and improve some core strength.

FF... paul and I go to St Werburghs fairly regularly, it's a good centre. The bouldering area is really good with quite a few challenges.
I went and had a look around before I joined and they were quite happy for me to do so :)

Thanks guys - must pop down one lunch time when I'm not running.
Looks like parking is an issue - any advice?

If we take the truck (rather than the bike) we park out front of some disused units near the shop on the corner (paul might be able to explain that better ;) )
But then we go evenings or weekends... not sure what it's like during the day

I went to UCR on a weekday lunchtime. Parking was fairly rammed, I was lucky to get dropped off there. They don't like you parking on a couple of roads and say they wont let you in if you park on them (not sure which roads they are but I'm sure it'll say on their website). Coffee is good at UCR too :D

Forgot to say.....bouldering at UCR makes good use of limited amount of space, well thought out and inventive. I liked their use of volumes. Nice mix of problems using verts, overhangs and rooves. Excellent, tough traverse route. I was all done in 3 hours over two days. Has the potential to get quite boring and repetetive unless resets are carried out regularly. I'll certainly go back when in Bristol next. You've also got The Climbing Academy in Bristol which is purely bouldering, never been there so don't know what it's like.

It's years since I've been to UCR. Does it still have the 'interesting' signs in the surrounding streets?
