Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

L is a much more experienced climber than me, but we’ve been bouldering a couple of times, and many moons ago I did some roped climbing including belaying – can’t for the life of me remember how to do it now though!

Hi Duncan. Back to the original question. A lot of indoors walls have associated clubs and/or a weekly social where single climbers can rock up and find a partner to climb with. I defo recommend joining a club and endorse all the comments about getting a basic training course under your belt too. Climbing is a fantastic way to increase body strength and much more interesting than going to a room full of weights and greasy posing idiots. When you've got your head around the basics, go outdoors - it's so much better than climbing indoors (although you'll have to travel a wee bit from Reading!).

The centre opens at the end of the month so I think it will be some bouldering and an intro course for starters and then spend the rest of the time in the cafe.

Oooo! V-rap. Climbing. When I was a member of Hermitage Harriers Running club. We had a night out at a Leisure Centre with a climbing wall. That was before I became swamped with school work, so I now don't find the time to have an evening off! :( We only got to go on the 'beginners' wall but it was great. I'd love to have another go at that. Is there a climbing wall in Brum somewhere? I'd find a Saturday or Sunday morning to drag Mr Ness to have a go at that!

Charnwood Hills "Fell" race is organised by a climbing club - Bowline Climbing Club.

Useless bit of info there, but I feel I'm linking climbing to running somehow.
