I quite like Erdinger and Lucky Saint for what I think of as a lager substitute. And as mentioned the Lidl and also Aldi ones aren’t bad either.

Heineken zero is my preferred NA "commodity beer", which is how I would categorize Stella (but then, I'm not a lager drinker). There are more interesting NA beers out there, but they'd also be more interesting than full-fat Stella.

Thanks, I'll discuss with him (and I'll rip the piss out of his unsophisticated palate, naturally :) )

I don't know how he can drink Stella, it stinks and he goes through so much of it. But I suppose same can be said for how much Pepsi I go through...

I quite like the Grolsch alcohol free as a generic pilsner - better than British Stella certainly!

Erdinger and Lucky Saint used to be handed out after the Brighton Marathon. However, in order to cut costs, London Marathon Events dropped them once they took over in 2023.

I thought they were both pretty good beers and much appreciated after a marathon!

Derby Tup
Guinness 0.0%
Erdinger 0.5%
Ghost Ship 0.5%

For me the beeriest tasting ‘zeroes’

SurreyPhil, I’ve also had the Erdinger AF at European races, and I had Lucky Saint at New Forest Marathon.

Derby Tup, when I’m in pubs, that is exactly the list that I look for as well. I also have the Guinness at home fairly often, and I think that’s the best of the ones I’ve tried (I’ve tried a lot of different ones). Usually at home I just have the Aldi or Lidl one though.

The nearest thing to ‘real beer’, I’ve had outside of the Guinness is the Ghost Ship. It’s hoppy and has a decent bitterness missing from so many offerings. I was sharing a few bottles with an old drinking buddy one Saturday afternoon and started to feel a little ‘giddy’. I don’t have it now
