Interesting read. I'm doing my Triathlon level 2 coaching course at the moment and I am very aware that as an overweight middle aged woman I don't have much credibility when it comes to the pointier end of competition! To the point I wonder how portrays the club to some people.

Enjoyed that article, SODIron. It has echoes of what Steve Ingham describes in How To Support A Champion, regarding both his own development as a coach and his approach to different athletes depending on their experience, personality, and level of engagement with the scientific aspects of their sport.

Irontubs, I think that's a very rational concern that needs exploring, and may be a perceptual barrier which puts off lots of people who might be very capable coaches.

It's also a recommended read in their Free Coaching Advice section too

Matt and I were wondering how it would be received amongst the coaching community when we published it. It seems to of resonated well across the UK and global coaching community.

Just received a nice email from Alex Hutchinson (author of Endure):

"Darren, I enjoyed the article on push/pull coaching! I had a chance to train with Harry Wilson briefly when I lived in England in the late 1990s (unfortunately I ended up getting injured before doing much racing with him, and then he passed away while I was still injured). He was such a genuinely nice man."

It seems the article is gaining traction in the world of coaching.

More developments on the coaching front. The Coach & Workforce Manager at EA has just asked if I would be interested in becoming a tutor, delivering the Event Group Endurance Integration Day events.
