Oh I've had that (and in Kent too - might have been the same dog). I had 'he doesn't like your yellow jacket' and 'she doesn't like rucksacks'. Oh that's alright then. Let the ***ker bite me then. It's *my* fault.

I must be very lucky as I've never had a problem with dogs while out on a run. Funnily enough given what Fleecy said about them, the only probkem I've ever had walking Flossie was with greyhounds who really went for her. The worst one was muzzled but all oc them should have been. The owner was a tosser of the 'oh they're only playing' variety so I never use those fields anymore (they're near our vets so were handy gor a pre

I've not been bitten yet, but feel it's only a matter of time. Sheer number of owners who think their dogs can behave in public as they would allow them to in their own back garden is depressing. Especially, currently, the ones whose dogs react to other people by walking up straight in front of them - which is just friendly behaviour, but they should be calling them back when it means you have to stop to maintain social distance.

While back had a snarly dog running around my ankles; the owner tried to call it back and it didn't go to him, because it was not properly trained, but the owner was pretty clear in his own mind that he could let it run around because it was a public park, and the problem was all me.

I've never had a problem with dogs when out running either but I can imagine it must be pretty scary if they're aggressive, even if you're a dog lover.
I usually run with a dog, of course, and if I am somewhere where he's off the lead (usually on the towpath), I call him back to me if a runner or cyclist approaches. Not that he's interested in them anyway (unless they have food ;) ), but I don't want him to get in their way and cause a fall.

Not been bitten yet but have been chased a few times. Thankfully for todays run all those I came across were on leads.

My bugbear is where the owners stop to chat with other owners without checking where the dogs are or still kept on a long lead and they end up taking over the whole path. Unbelievably this actually happened the other day, even in these distance restricted times.

Does chasing mouse round my bedroom after my run this morning count as cross-training or cool-down?! Cat had wandered off by then - got bored with looking! Found and deposited at the bottom of the woods - just down from the house. Neither cat nor mouse particularly impressed with my athletisism. (However you spell it?)

Fragile Do Not Bend
Just been for today’s run and had a couple of labradors (?) charging at me full speed across a field. Turns out they were just being friendly but I’ve had so many scary dog encounters my brain just went OHSHITOHSHITOHSHIT. One of them jumped up at me and the owner made a half-hearted attempt to call the dog back. She said sorry but was being all jolly about it. I told her it was scary and went on my way before she could say anything.

I don’t think some people who are used to dogs realise how scary they can be for some people who aren’t used to them.

I think you're right, Frag. I do keep reminding myself of that.
