Turkhish
Good Morning,

7.15 start for myself today...seemed a lot of people about for a change...walking dogs, heading to work?..mostly...a bit chilly and managed a bit of effort today...shaking off a bit recent lethargy...working from home still...wwhilst work lasts!..

Mrs J...dogwalkers who cant control dogs...pet hate of mine....not the dogs...the owners..I would never let my dog do this

Tm ...hope your day gets better....

Mrs Jigs (Luverlylegs)
Mine too Turkhish, she was reluctant to put it on a lead but I wouldn't move until she had, I still have bad memories of a GD biting me in the park a couple of years ago.

SarahWoo, if I don't go out early then I probably wouldn't go at all, too many people later in the day.

Autumnleaves
Some weeks back on a group run we were greeted by a very bouncy barking dog off the lead, followed by a woman shrieking 'he doesn't like runners'.

Morning. That's a pet hate of mine too, MrsJ

Hugs to all that need them. I had a bad night and am not feeling very positive today.

Fragile Do Not Bend
(((Linds)))

I’ve come across my fair share of barking dogs off the lead, does anyone know what is the best thing to do when I come across one on the path ahead that decides to turn towards me and adopt a defensive position (if the owner hasn’t noticed or doesn’t think it’s an issue). I slow to a walk and try not to look at it (I’m trying not to appear threatening) but that never seems to work.

Dr PhFleecyD
I’ve been told that stopping and looking away is the best thing to do, but some dogs are so badly trained that they continue barking and growling anyway, like the 3 big dogs that scared the shit out of me last week. If a dog thinks you want to play (probably most dogs, I’m giving them the benefit of the doubt) then stopping/walking and ignoring seems pretty effective, that gives the owner a chance to call them back. I always stop and walk if I see any dog off a lead, or even an overly feisty dog on a lead sometimes. Except greyhounds. They are the most runner friendly dogs I know, maybe because they think we’re too slow to play with? :)

um
Shout 'sit' ?
You'll either find it's trained, but puzzled someone else is giving it a command, or at least attract the owners attention.

I sense a flower investigative run later, with better pics of leaves, stalks, petals etc ...

Welcome to the 700 miles in 2020 thread, everybody welcome. The thread motto is:
'700 miles is neither necessary nor sufficient'

At normal times: All you have to do is run about 1.91 miles per day or 13.46 miles per week or 58.33 miles per month and take a picture when you get to 700 miles. Extra points for bins :-) And if you go under or over 700 miles nobody will mind.
