Best wishes PH xxx

Lovely five mile walk with the dog this morning. The police have finally decided that sitting in a cosy van all day with just the occasional passer-by is not the best use of that copper's time. Nature notes: by this time next week, the hill will be smothered in cowslips, you can see all the flower buds lurking, waiting to shoot up on their stalks :-)

Hi FML! While I was browsing through some photos today I came across one of us all at the Nottingham Half years ago. If I can find it again I'll pop it in the Fetch Photos thread.

Sorry you're still not in the clear with your injury :-(

Hi FML! Poo to still injured, take it carefully. And pop in when you can :)

We had some sad news about Cousin today. I did go for a run and was so glad I did, but I don't feel like I've achieved anthing at all today. How is it 3pm already?!

Afternoon xx. Just catching up.
"good" night at work in that had a short amount of downtime in the town my parents live in. So we drove to see them. Driving there coincided with the 8pm clapping so they were out in the street with neighbours. Managed a 2-3 min chat (had to stop Dad coming to hug me: Wouldn't quite give the right social distancing message seeing a paramedic hug her Dad!) and was able to tell them about the death of my friend in person (they knew him too).
Still feel we're being cheated of decent PPE by public health England, but our immediate managers are supportive and are happy we're going against official advice and wearing anything we have for every patient contact, not just for suspected Covid.

In other news, some people make me so angry. After shift I went to do the weekly shop at Waitrose, naturally still in uniform. 8-9am is elderly and NHS. I arrived at 7.50 and the queue outside was enormous. Mostly elderly and fairly frail people standing in the cold. I took my place at the end of the queue. Man in front asked if I'd just come off shift, and when I said yes, insisted I go to the front. All the elderly shoppers one by one were in agreement. I was hugely embarrassed but due to their insistence, made my way forward. At the front of the queue I was told by a store worker I shouldn't wait.

Anyway, while still waiting, a man came up to me. About same age as me, fit, healthy, no uniform or ID. Clearly had not been on nights. Said "ah good, is this where NHS can queue jump? If I can't get in first, i'm going home".
Self entitled prick!! How dare he feel he has more right than anyone else? I felt awful that my presence meant someone elderly had to wait that bit longer on a chilly morning (I probably won't use that slot again for that reason),, and there he was triumphing over his seemingly god given right 🤬

Sorry, rant over. Should probably have blogged!

Don’t feel guilty TM, they let you go ahead and they probably felt a little better for having done so. At least the weather is going to warm up so queueing won’t be so bad. Boo to that prat.

Hope your journey goes well AR.

Going to rest my leg another day from running - had to run to catch a door this morning and it was more a limp/hop. Will go for a walk though.

TM - (sorry, ageist gneralisations coming) - it's probably their outing for the week / fortnight, and (as I seem to find) even their shop is a social occasion rather than a time critical dash.
And 'letting the ambulance woman/person' go first could be their main topic of conversation for the day/week/month. You made it more interesting for them.

ar - I might start a sweepstake thread ..'what time Saturday will AR post she wishes she stayed in Austria'. Hope remaining travel goes well, And anjoy an empty M3 (if you're flying to LHR or other London). If Bournemouth, I hear it's a bit busy as one of the UKs 'airplane parking lots'.

Um, I have no problem engaging in social conversation with the older shoppers. I also have no problem waiting if there is a queue. I'm pretty laid back generally. I do, however, have a huge problem with anyone else thinking they are more important, especially a young healthy arrogant bloke.
