Kieren
A big PB for me from Monday' evening's Sri Chinmoy 5K series
19:07 = old PB - since March 18:45 = Monday's time - taking me to 74.16% WAVA
It's a fast course. The BBC Weather "feels like" was 29'c and the warmup jog there (2K walk, 3K jog _ strides) felt it. Thankfully there was a strong breeze on the course which helped a lot.
I went out way too fast and was running a 17 minute pace for the first 500m. I felt good but realised my mistake when my faster friend was still only slightly ahead. I backed off convinced I was going to blow up around 3K. I still went through 1KM too fast but managed to hold on.
Garmin Splits: 1. 3:38.2 2. 3:47.5 3. 3:49.5 4. 3:47.7 5. 3:38.9 + 0:05.7 (course measured finish vs gps splits)
A 2 loop tarmac course around a park. I misjudged the finish spint, getting around a corner expecting to see the finish only to realise it was the next corner - about another 200m!
I really enjoyed it and felt strong. I think I have another 5 - 10 seconds in me but want to focus on training for a bit now before I try again.

Last night I improved on the 200m I did a week ago - 10ths of seconds count when it’s sprinting. 77.96% ... I hope my Serpie results page rounds it up to 78!
