Yes we’re building up to leaving him but he’s not yet ready to be shut in the crate for any length of time (and a Kong or chew only keeps him occupied for 5 mins or so at the moment) and he is not yet 9 weeks so too little to leave - frequent toileting, destruction etc. He’ll have care when I’m back at work and will work on building to leave him. Leaving them too quickly can trigger separation anxiety (my sister’s dog has it) and desensitising him to me leaving him is best done gradually to avoid it. We’re not yet up to enough time for a run but will get there :-)

Got a session with a trainer today hopefully online. Get us on track with the training. :-)

My daughter has to leave the radio on (normally Radio 4) when my grand puppy is left on his own. It seems to keep him happy 😊.
Pen, I’m not suggesting this as a solution for you. It just makes me smile to think of Odgar listening to the Archers and Woman’s Hour.

They are all so different Ellie didn’t give a hoot at being left but Bailey learnt from. Caffrey to be stressed at being left. We only had 2 weeks at home with ours when we got them then it was work. Grateful Ellie is so independent. It is like having kids, although with children you at least get 9 months off.

Enjoy him he sounds a little diamond.

We also leave radio or tv on when we are not home. Caffrey used to have Cartoon Network on I’m sure it’s where he learnt the mischief he was famous for.

Well done GC. I’m sure that you’ll achieve 1000.

I managed my highest monthly total since January 2019 in November, which leaves me 33 miles to reach my revised 2020 target of 300.
It’s been greatly assisted by being furloughed, so I’ve had more opportunity this month to run.
(During the earlier five furlough month furlough we were advised not to go out at all, although I did a bit!)

A very slow, but fun 10k this afternoon. Very, very muddy and slippery in places. Lots of walking required to stay upright in places. My running buddy had brought a friend’s dog along too, and we had trouble getting poor Alfie through some of the gates/stiles. At one stile we had to physically lift him over the top!
We had to cut the route short and come home on the road. It had become so dark that we wouldn’t have been able to run safely across the fields paths.

Sounds like a fun run despite the slips and slides and very similar to my run yesterday minus the stiles I bet Alfie loved it too.

I went out today and it was so wet I gave up and rand through the puddles it was like being a kid again!!

I think that being bold and running through puddles is often the way to go. If you’re going to end up wet, you may as well get wet sooner.

Treacle
Puddles are definitely there to be run through, rather than round (although having stepped in a puddle at the weekend that went over the top of my walking boots, there are possibly exceptions that should be made to that...)!

I've hit the 300 mile mark (revised target for this year). Yay! Nothing like as much as the mileage I used to do, but its my best since 2009....:-)

Well done on achieving your 300 Treacle.

Contrary to my earlier advice, I avoided a puddle this afternoon and slipped on a wet verge. I went down and nearly slid into a ditch full of muddy water. I got well muddied and then severely brambled getting myself back on my legs. I need to listen to myself more!

14 miles left to get to my revised 300 mile target.

About This Thread

*EDIT* in the current situation we are not entering races but I think we can still log any plans we may have over the coming months, whether it is learning a new skill, ticking jobs off a list, moving house(!), doing alternative exercise, aiming for training hours instead of miles, writing to family & friends, finding inventive ways to be together virtually or even entering virus races please fill in the planner and I’ll update this thread and keep our little social group going to share our goals.

Everyone is welcome, whether you don't want to set an official target or you may be aiming further but still want to pop by for a chat/offer some words of wisdom or just because the door is always open and kettle is on.

If you update the race planner after I've updated the header drop me an fmail or a reminder (or 2) on the thread so I know to update. Thanks
