I get angrier at people liking stuff I hate. Those people are definitely wrong.

After an enthusiastic start I have fallen back to old familiar stuff.

I've surprised myself, just counted back, only 8 of the albums I've reviewed are by artists I'd heard of before, the other 40 odd have been brand new artists to me. Admittedly quite a few have been of the same genre but that's more the suggestions that drive the picks.

My housemate gets the brunt of that. I come home from work to hear him polluting the air with Guns and Roses and Live.

And occasionally Barbie Girl by Aqua, but that's allowed :)

Listened to r-Ring a couple of times now, in the balance, thinking it is leaning towards a thumbs up.

Murder Capital just not doing it for me at all ! Giving it another try now just in case it is a really slow burner.

I’m tempted to say the Hamish Hawk album is my favourite so far this year. Will give it another listen tomorrow before I review.

You’ve got a lot more to compare with so far Pedro. :)

Lol that's true Eldude, I worked it out that between the albums I've reviewed on here and the ones for my blogs I've listened to over 80 albums already this year. It's helped that we've not been busy so I've been spending 10 hours plus 5 days a week either at my desk or in the van so lots of time to listen.

I'm not quite getting the Murder Capital album either, but prepared to give it another go. the Go Team...not so much...

My album of the week(end) has been The Waeve, the debut by Blur's Graham Coxon and singer-songwriter Rose Elinor Dougall. I love the almost krautrock pulsing synths, the dissonant saxophone (had no idea Coxon was a classically trained sax player) and the way it can be spiky post-punk one minute, lush and orchestral the next, before veering into laconic jazzy territory.

Young Fathers are next up on the 'to listen to' list!

About This Thread

Maintained by McGoohan
As a spin-off from Joopsy's excellent Albums of 2022 thread fetcheveryone.com/forum/albums-of-2022-62537/ this is a new thread where we commit to listen to one new album a week in 2023. Allowing a couple of weeks off for life commitments etc, that's 50 albums in the year.
EDIT - new and improved (i.e. exactly the same) for 2024
