Got Lightning Seeds echoes in the Ride album. Liked it but not sure it’ll hold my interest for long.

I'm sort of on the wrong thread to post this (Gigs) but I'm following on from the prev page. Everything Everything were fantastic live tonight.

Support were Divorce - who I already saw supporting The Vaccines earlier this year. Don't think I've ever seen a support band go down as well as that. They were visibly moved by how much the crowd loved them.

I'm going to see top danish art-rockers Mew on Wednesday. it has occurred to me that they are very similar to EE in lots of ways - operatic vocals, obscure lyrics, big catchy tunes. i clearly have a favoured band type

Ah, glad you had a good time! And glad Divorce got some love :)

I have seen one gig where the support band got a major reception - I saw Athlete in Preston many moons ago, supported by Snow Patrol, the week that they went stratospheric. Great gig, though I still prefer Athlete...

Vehicles and animals was a favourite album JK. And of course they did Wires also which I love. They still going? Snow Patrol not for me.

I once saw Arctic Monkeys support Maximo Park on an NME tour. Arctic Monkeys had released their debut by then. Lots of gig goers left before Maximo Park which was a shame as they were incredible. We are scientists and Mystery Jets we're also on the bill. Fantastic gig spoilt only by my over consumption now I think about it.

Athlete stopped a good few years back - the lead singer has become a songwriter, particularly for the risible George Ezra.

I remember that NME tour, really wanted to go as I'm a big WAS fan. Maxïmo Park are in Manchester later this year and I'm weighing up grabbing a ticket.

About This Thread

Maintained by McGoohan
As a spin-off from Joopsy's excellent Albums of 2022 thread fetcheveryone.com/forum/albums-of-2022-62537/ this is a new thread where we commit to listen to one new album a week in 2023. Allowing a couple of weeks off for life commitments etc, that's 50 albums in the year.
EDIT - new and improved (i.e. exactly the same) for 2024
