Well done. It is very interesting travelling around these days, rarely get further south than Birmingham these days. I think I should get myself over to Sheffield more....

Very good. You have few more bitters than me. I think that is Manchester's tast in beer coming through. It appears to me, what sells up here are lighter coloured, happier beers, or right at the other end, very Strong Stouts.

Bristol Beer Factory day out? :-)

We went to the West Country to watch a Bristol City game and the beer factory was a suitable place to have lunch and yes we stayed for a few.

I have noticed during my travels that there is regional difference in beer types available. One thing that seems consistent is the absence of mild. I do like a mild and it is unusual to find it.

It was funny, I could see exactly where you'd had your trip to Weston (and in which order you did the pubs) in that list.

I'm also a fan of mild, and hadn't had one this year yet (although I did have a bitter that tasted like mild in April), but for the last two weeks the Fork n Ale has had a mild on: good chemistry last week, and pitchfork on Thursday.

Another trip planned for Feb yet to decide whether we stay in Weston on Bristol. Hotel prices will determine it I guess

No/Lo
24. (bottle) Lucky Saint Unfiltered Lager (0.5%). Recommended to me by my brother, and very nice.

Cans
23. (can) Bristol Beer Factory Southville Hop (6.5%). Caught me off guard a bit - I didn't notice the ABV until it was nearly finished.
24. (can) Bristol Beer Factory Independence (4.6%)
25. (can) Bew York Fairytale of Brew York (4.9%). Stollen milk stout, apparently - this sounded delicious on the website, but was a bit on the engine oil side in real life.

Bottles
43. (bottle) Otter Bright (4.3%)
44. (bottle) Butcombe Adam Henson's Rare Breed (4.2%). I've already had this on draught already this year, but that was after I'd topped 50, so onto the bottles list it goes. Very nice.

A day out in London helped me find three more cask beers

Bloomsbury bitter from Redemption

Crouch Vale Yakima Gold

And London Pride from Fullers

Ten a trip to see Cambridge United yesterday coincided with a Cambridge camra beer festival so very lucky

Barsham Brewery Norfolk Topper very sharp but easy drinking pale
Greene King IPA I am so surprised that I have reached November and only just had this as it is very common in Hertford.
Rocket Ale Black Knight a very good mild
NEne valley brewery Simple pleasure which for me was the best of the day
So 108 in total

About This Thread

Maintained by Ocelot Spleens
and here we are in 2024....

I still really like a pint.

I think this is not too controversial health wise. Lots of beers about these days. I interpret it as different beers within 2023, and you can, if you like; avoid beers you have had before, but as ever the list is yours to do what you like.
