Still looks a bit Pale, very happy to find that Best Bitter the other day. I think I will only get to a pub another 10 times between now and the NY. Not a lot of scope. In greater jeopardy is my visit 50 new pubs a year, due to covid missed it in 2020 and 2021, I need to check but 2022 looks dodgy.

It feels like pale is all you get nowadays, pale ale, IPA, NEIPA, DHIPA, etc.

I think I've seen more porters than bitters this year, which is a big change from when I started drinking. Unfortunately I don't like porter...

That seems to be it, there is a bit of licence though, quite a few of those were listed as pale, but weren't particularly, it's a bit subjective, that last West Coast Pale wasn't, also IPAs can be, and more than likely were, on the darker side.

One thing that popped into my head the other day was Michael Jackson's The Beer Hunter, CHannle 4, very late 80s I think, I'd love that on CD as a present, if anyone knows of such a thing? I have the book....

Hertford Tiger
I’ve noticed round Hertford a move back to darker bitter styles. A couple of years ago it was all golden or pale (really pale) now as my list shows darker bitters are common. I do like it when I see a mild on the pump. It’s still a rarity.

About This Thread

and here we are in 2024....

I still really like a pint.

I think this is not too controversial health wise. Lots of beers about these days. I interpret it as different beers within 2023, and you can, if you like; avoid beers you have had before, but as ever the list is yours to do what you like.
