Yep, downward dog to lunge is a bit of a challenge for me too. If I don't make it I just arm wrestle my leg into position.

That said, I have definitely gotten better at it and today, by some miracle, I did it no problem. Go figure. Mostly I have to manhandle myself but, on the odd days when I manage it, I do a little internal cheer.
And yes, NSC, it will improve.
It just takes time and practice and, for me, acceptance that I'm at where I'm at and that's cool.

My guess is that DfD to lunge is as much about strength (and movement pattern) as it is about flexibility. Bit like stride length is FAR more related to strength than it is to anything else.

You need to be patient and to have belief. I'm not a great subscriber to 'anything is possible if you want it enough' that's just bollocks. But visualisation helps. See that foot moving smoothly up to your hands.

Yes to strength and definitely yes to movement pattern.
I find it much easier when I remember to move my leg kind of out and around as it comes forward.

I still canโ€™t really do it in one, but I get closer. Out and around is a good thought, maybe Iโ€™ll try that next time.

And over
Like lifting your leg over a hurdle.
Or a small mammal :-)

Glad I found this thread. Really struggled with my arms/wrists. Nearly threw it in. Glad to find Iโ€™m not the only one.

Up and over definitely helps, but I have concluded that adjustments are OK - even Adriene makes them :)

Hello ๐Ÿ˜Š just did day 1 and I feel like that was a hard session for a first day.. that first downward dog felt like an eternity!! I come from doing yoga classes at least once a week sometimes twice so rest of it was straight forward. I did start getting bored when we were sat forever at the beginning but I have a reeeeally short attention span ๐Ÿ˜‚

Sore hips and knee from 20 mile bike ride this morning were not happy to be doing yoga ๐Ÿ™„

Hi Mikuro - I'm really going to try NOT to get distracted and bored in the breathing more meditative sections this year. Not my favourites either but if I can get into it I reckon it will be valuable.

Focus and stillness can be a big help in athletics - for me that means blocking out wrong thinking and mad chatter in my head. Or accepting the 'noise' and just letting it go. I am learning to be grounded.

All done! xxx

This is possibly just for me, mine all mine.

I'm all signed up for Adriene's 30 Days of Yoga: 'Move'. There's already a thread that's survived two previous incarnations (I believe I started that, too, back end 2019) I expect most Fetchies will post on there, or perhaps on the 'The Yoga Every (well, some) Days Thread'. Or somewhere else entirely. Or not at all.

HOWEVER
I reserve the right not to bother with Adriene's Day 30 if it takes its usu...
